MTV Video Music Awards 2015: The Best Dressed List
You can always expect the unexpected from the MTV VMAs. For us fashionistas, the red carpet at the MTV Video Music Awards is a place for stylish surprises and bold fashion choices. I love how stars take the opportunity during this awards show to get creative with their style and take fashion risks.
Trust us, between the Miley-Nicki beef, Bieber's post-performance tears, Kanye's big announcement, and Miley's crazy out-of-this-world outfits, you missed out on a lot. But not to worry, we've got you covered in the fashion department.
Here are my picks of the best dressed on the red carpet:
Blush was the color of the night. This geometric cut out mini that Demi wore before her amazing performance with Iggy Azalea is seriously sexy. The slicked back hair is a modern 'do made to draw even more attention to her stunning dress. A plus, Demi.
LBDs were not popular during the VMA red carpet, but Lily Aldridge took the black evening dress up a notch. She definitely dialed up the sultriness with a slinky silhouette and eye-catching cutouts. I love how she kept this look so minimal, it just adds to the modern feel.
A thigh-high slit and a low back combined with a refreshing minty color make for a memorable red carpet look. I also love how Bella Thorne gave a shout out to a lazy girl beauty staple--the top knot.
Talk about ultimate boho inspiration. Vanessa Hudgens has always been consistent with her bohemian 70s inspired style, and she definitely took that to the next level with her VMA look. Spot on trend and so ethereal, bookmark this as your number one style inspo.
The reigning queen of chart toppers and the head of the most enviable #girlsquad ever; can we really make a VMA Best Dressed without T-Swift? The answer is no. She did a different spin on her love of coordinating separates with this glitzy number. Crop tops and joggers are so on point and so sporty chic meets glam.
Navy and black make for an elegant color pairing. The ruffled detail and subtle ruching makes this look a slam dunk in my book. It may be a bit on the conventional side, but Maria Menounos' look stands for a classic evening ensemble with some trendy upgrades. Bravo.
Now, Kim K.'s look that night has been the subject of contentious fashion debates. Some love it and some hate it, I personally applaud it. Another fashion-forward maternity look, Kim's military inspired Balmain frock is proof that you don't have to sacrifice your taste for avant-garde style when flaunting your baby bump.
One word for Brit Brit's look that night: SLAY. She absolutely reminded everyone that night that she is a true queen. Her mermaid tresses and her glittering mini showed off her to die for bod, and it truly is one of the best looks of the night.
Nicki Minaj's dress defies the laws of physics. There were a lot of "naked" dresses that night, and hers is one of the best. The dress hugs her every curves, and although very revealing, it still looks sophisticated and queenly.
