Five Ways to Wear Capris

Five Ways to Wear Capris

By   |

Capris are a wonderful addition to any wardrobe. They can be worn for at least two or three seasons of the year, and they can be dressed up or down depending on what you pair them with. Not quite shorts, not quite pants, capris bridge the gap and scream of versatility!

These five ways to wear capris will give you the inspiration you need to make capris a foundational piece of your ensemble, any day of the week:

1) With ballet flats, a la Audrey Hepburn.

Is there anything quite as whimsical as a pair of fitted capris matched with ballet flats? This look is oh-so-stylish and can transition easily from day to night, indoors to outside, and work to play. Choose a muted tone for your ballet flats and go with capris that hug your skin to show off your curves (my personal favorite: black capris and grey or silver ballet flats. So pretty!).

Bonus: you can wear your capris and flats all day long without your feet getting sore. From running errands to dancing the night away, you can do it all in capris and ballet flats, and you’ll look super cute while you’re at it.

2) With a tunic or shirt-dress and a wide belt.

Hide any trouble areas with this flattering, hip outfit. Your capris should be slightly fitted here, and the tunic / shirt-dress should hit mid-thigh. Add dimension to this look with a wide belt – you’ll still be able to cover any trouble areas without looking too shapeless. This look is flattering for any body shape or size! Go for a brightly-coloured, patterned, or bejeweled tunic for a unique and eye-catching look.

3) With heels.

Want to make your legs go on and on? Just add heels! Strappy sandals pair beautifully with capris in the summer, and you can transition into pumps for autumn. Show off those lovely gams!

You can even wear your capris with heeled riding boots for the winter, making your capris go the distance to be worn year-round. Be sure to choose fitted capris to help this look come together really well and to look especially sharp at any event.

4) With a blouse or button-up.

This outfit is so chic for the office. Either fitted or looser capris work well for this look, and you can dress it up or down as much as you like to fit the occasion for a more professional work environment or for a more casual affair. Stick with smart shoes and classic jewelry to make this look go the distance, and choose a simple, understated purse to enhance the professionalism of your outfit.

5) With an over-sized bag and casual top.

Got errands to run? Why not wear some capris? Grab a large bag so you can carry any purchases you might make, pair your capris with a casual t-shirt or tank top, and choose slightly looser-fitting capris to ensure you remain extra comfortable while still having a nice stylish flair. You can’t go wrong with this fun look in the summer and early fall.
